The Suba University Multicampus Advances Under the Leadership of the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional

The Suba University Multicampus is beginning to take shape as a reality for access to public higher education in the northwestern area of Bogotá. With construction underway, admissions open, and the start date for classes confirmed, hundreds of young people will be able to study free of charge and close to their homes.

The Universidad Pedagógica Nacional plays a fundamental role in this strategic project for the city, not only as one of the participating institutions, but also as the institution responsible for receiving the project under a loan-for-use agreement to advance its physical and academic consolidation.

On March 20, 2026, the District formally transferred the properties located at the intersection of Calle 145 con Carrera 115 to the National Ministry of Education, enabling progress in the structuring and implementation of the Multicampus.

The first stage of construction is being carried out by the Virgilio Barco National Real Estate Agency (ANIM) and includes the installation of 64 modular structures totaling more than 5,600 square meters distributed among classrooms, laboratories, a library, computer rooms, and student wellness spaces. This phase will have the capacity to serve 920 students simultaneously.

The investment allocated for this modular stage amounts to approximately $23 billion ,doubling the initial projection to adequately respond to the educational needs of the territory.
Academic activities will begin on August 3, 2026, in Lot 1, which will have approximately 3,700 operational square meters. At the same time, Lot 2, covering nearly 7,000 square meters, will receive additional modules to progressively expand student capacity.

All admitted students will benefit from the National Government’s Tuition-Free Education Policy, guaranteeing access to public higher education without tuition costs. Likewise, the participating institutions will develop a shared student welfare program aimed at strengthening student retention, academic support, and the overall development of students.

Meanwhile, the definitive and permanent phase of the Multicampus will be developed in Lot 3, with an investment exceeding $200 billion between 2026 and 2028.
As part of the Multicampus’s initial academic offering, the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional will offer programs focused on pedagogical, artistic, and community-based education, reinforcing its historic commitment to public education and local communities.

For the second semester of 2026, the University will offer the following degree programs:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Music
• Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts
• Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts

Additionally, it will offer the following undergraduate programs:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Community Education

Applications will be open from May 4 to June 3, 2026, through a unified admissions calendar agreed upon by the institutions that make up the Multicampus. The National Ministry of Education will also implement a centralized admissions process prioritizing access for young people from the Suba district.

The Francisco José de Caldas District University, Colegio Mayor de Cundinamarca, and the Central Technical Institute will also be part of this initial academic offering.
The Suba University Multicampus has guaranteed financial backing through CONPES 4181, which allocates $215.7 billion for the 2026–2028 period. These resources ensure the continuity of the project and consolidate the development of the permanent infrastructure, allowing the initiative to move forward beyond political and administrative cycles.
