UPN Continues to Strengthen Its International Presence

The Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN) participated in various academic activities at Justus Liebig University Giessen (Germany) as part of the Intertwined Horizons project.

This international cooperation initiative, supported by the German – Colombian Peace Institute (CAPAZ) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), brings together universities from Colombia, Germany, and Argentina. Its objective is to provide tools to address the challenges and risks faced by contemporary democracies through historical-political education and education for sustainable development. 

Within this academic framework, Professor Paola Helena Acosta Sierra, Vice Rector for Research, Extension, and Social Outreach, represented the University with the lecture “Political Imagination, Social Inequalities, and Education for Peace.” She also participated as a guest lecturer in the master’s program “Justice and Inequalities: Comparative Cultural Studies”. 

In addition, a meeting was held with the International Relations Office of Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) to advance an interinstitutional cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening academic, research, and mobility ties between both universities. 

Furthermore, the project organizes political education schools every six months for students from the participating universities, who are selected through semiannual calls for applications.  

Through these initiatives, the University reaffirms its commitment to an education that engages the world and responds to contemporary challenges to help build the peace that the country needs through education.
